At high temperatures, Cr2O3 and Al2O3 will form a continuous solid solution, so chrome corundum firebricks have better high-temperature performance than pure corundum firebricks. The most often used chrome corundum bricks contain 9%~15% Cr2O3, the principal mineral composition is α-Al2O3-Cr2O3 solid solution, subordinate mineral composition is a small amount of composite spinel.
Cr2O3 corundum bricks can be divided into fused cast chrome corundum bricks and burned chrome corundum bricks, generally speaking, chrome corundum bricks are sintered chrome corundum bricks. Chrome corundum bricks’ raw materials are α-Al2O3, Cr2O3 powder, and chrome corundum clinker fine powder. Usually, sintered chrome corundum bricks’ Cr2O3 content is lower than fused cast chrome corundum.
