Dr. Strohmeier was born in Dec.1943 in Kapfenberg/Austria and is an Austrian citizen.

His tertiary education of Dipl.-Ing. (MSc) was completed “cum laude” in Ferrous Metallurgy at one of the best-known Metallurgical Universities in Europe, the University of Leoben (Mining and Metallurgy) in Austria.

He earned his PhD degree in 1980 at the University of Leoben/Austria with distinction with the subject: “Computerized Information System in a large Electric Furnace Steel plant), studying part-time after hours while working in the steel plant.

 

Dr. Strohmeier is recognized today as one of the foremost experts in the field of DRI-EAF-based steelmaking. While modernizing steel plant on a continuous basis by implementing advanced European Technologies, he was able to share his extensive experience by presenting Technical Papers at the foremost Electric Steelmaking Congresses in USA and Europe.

Most of his papers have also been published in well-known steelmaking magazines like “Iron and Steelmaker” (USA) and MPT-journal (Germany), BHM (Austria), France and South-Africa.

 

After retirement in 2005, he has been working as Consultant overseeing acquisitions of Mini steel plants and to implement improvements of operations.

 

Dr. Strohmeier has recognized the critical need for training, coaching and leading the young engineers in the market which have limited exposure to new developments in EAF’s, LF’s and Continuous Casters. The result is the book: ‘Developments of 50 Years EAF Steelmaking’
